Fracking and Ohio's Energy Future
Drilling for Natural Gas in Ohio – Does It Make Sense
Economically and Environmentally?
As you may know, there is an aggressive agenda to stop the development of oil and gas here in Ohio and throughout the United States. We have an amazing opportunity right here in Ohio to be leaders in the production of energy and in the development of technology that will result in greater efficiencies and lower fuel costs.
The Southeast Republicans will be hosting a forum on the future of Ohio’s energy resources on Tuesday May 15that the Solon Community Center at 7 pm. Featured speakers will be Jerrold L. Hutton, Ph.D. and Gene Allen. Dr. Hutton is a director with Clean Fuels Ohio and the recipient of a federal grant to develop the Hocking College Energy Institute. Mr. Allen is a Vice President of Linde LLC. Linde LLC is a gas transportation and engineering company headquartered in Munich, Germany.
The forum will include the economic impact of natural gas development in Ohio along with transportation and safety issues.
Doors open at 6:30 pm and the meeting will begin at 7 P.M. and is open to the public, bring a friend to attend.
The Southeast Republicans hosted a March 6th Primary Election candidates forum at the February 21st meeting. Included were contenders for judicial races as well as positions on the County and State Central Committees. Each candidate had an opportunity to speak on their background and experience as well as answering questions from the audience. Hopefully this gave everyone the information needed to cast their vote for the candidates best suited to oppose the Democrats in the Fall.
Senator Tom Coburn's (R-Okla.) office recently issued a policy paper titled, "Bad Medicine," on the new federal health care law that's worth reading. Among the gems is a finding that immigrants in some ways get a better deal than U.S. citizens and legal residents under the new health reform law, says health economist Devon Herrick.
For example:
A recent "Investor's Business Daily" article provided very interesting statistics from a survey by the United Nations International Health Organization.
Percentage of men and women who survived a cancer five years after diagnosis:
U.S. 65%
England 46%
Canada 42%
